water stress publication

New article on water stress detection has been published

Our partner INRAE has just published an article on water stress detection. This paper is called Physiological variable predictions using VIS–NIR spectroscopy for water stress detection on grapevine: Interest in combining climate data using multiblock method.

Download article here.

Some highlights to resume information are:

  • Physiological variable predictions were predicted using VIS-NIR spectroscopy
  • A water stress gradient was obtained using vine pots of three varieties
  • A multi-block regression method called SO-PLS is used
  • Models are established with PLS and SO-PLS including all vine varieties
  • Model performance of transpiration is improved using climate data

Interreg Volunteer Youth for the VINIoT Project

From June to December 2021, FEUGA had an Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) that helped with the daily activities for the VINIoT project. He performed tasks such as translation, supported with organizing the transfer activities, prepared powerpoints presentations, among others. The work was focused on communication, reporting and showing what the project has achieved. Take a look at the photos below and in the IVY blog and their social media accounts, where he explained more thoroughly his experience.

IVY is an action to offer the possibility to young people aged 18-30 to serve as volunteers in cross-border, transnational or interregional programmes and related projects. Being solidarity and volunteering at the heart of IVY, this initiative is part of the European Solidarity Corps. Each experience can be 2 to 6 months long.

VINIoT at the VI forum RIES21

On 10-11 November, we promoted our VINIoT HUB at the VI forum RIES21, led by Cluster Saude de Galicia (CSG), and the event was located in Balneario de Mondariz, in Pontevedra. It functioned as a meeting point, with interactive dynamics to reflect on the most important and current issues of the ecosystem, to get to know the actors that operate in it, obtain information, knowledge and collaborations that have an impact on the benefit of their entities. In other words, the international event was a meeting point where synergies and knowledge took place.

Also, the event aimed to address how digital transformation affects healthcare and social healthcare processes and to show how local projects provide solutions to global challenges. Thus, the innovation of the different health ecosystems becomes a differential value that promotes collaborations, business generation and investment that benefits the entire ecosystem. The event had 4 blocks:

1.Digital transformation
2.Welfare block
3.Care block
4.Financing block

You can see the programme here. Take a look at the images of the event below!

Installation of IoT sensors and measurements at demofarms

The VINIoT team have recently started to make measurements at demofarms to determine hydric stress, maturation and ripening of grapes. These first measurements were made in Leiro (Galicia) and Sao Joao da Pesqueira (Portugal) and will allow a better implementation and validation of VINIoT service.

In addition, the VINIoT team have installed IoT sensor networks antennas in a vineyard in Evega, Leiro, that transmit information in real-time to start the SMEs digital transformation with the vineyard monitoring system. These sensors will allow the collection of real-time data on the precise scale (grape level, plant, plot or vineyard).
