Start of vineyard irrigation in EVEGA trials

The experimental trial developed at EVEGA starts today with the vineyard irrigation of Mencía and Treixadura grapes. The beginning of this plant’s water stress period is caused by the start of sunny days, after a rainy period. 

The vineyard is in the phenological stage between pea size and closed cluster, so the lack of water availability can affect the development of production. VINIoT evaluates the effects of irrigation versus a dry treatment, the latter being the most common in the Ribeiro, although highly dependent on rainfall during the summer.
